These are some of the mostly commonly asked questions about our practice, the care we provide, and the direct primary care model.
Direct Primary Care, or DPC, is a model of healthcare that puts the doctor-patient relationship first by getting rid of the administrative bureaucracy that constrains traditional practices. How? It's simple: we don't accept insurance, and – believe it or not – this actually saves you money in the long run and you get more personalized medicine.
You won't have to pay a co-pay for any office visits or routine physicals. Also you'll be able to avoid many visits altogether by sending your questions directly to us via portal – something you won't get from a traditional practice. Additionally, we will be able to continue providing care via tele-health since we are no longer regulated by the bureaucracy from medical insurance plans. In the future, we are hoping to negotiate deals for prescription medications on your behalf. Everything is transparent.
Other DPC practices are recommending to their patient members to cut back on their insurance premiums by finding a high-deductible, low-premium insurance plan. This provides coverage for major health issues like specialty fees, hospitalization, surgeries, urgent care visits or emergency room visits. As of 2026, Federal Law was implemented to allow those who have health saving account (HSA), to apply up to $150 towards their monthly DPC membership fee.
Of course. Everyone benefits from a service tailored directly to them. That’s why we offer truly custom healthcare. We’re here for you if you're sick or hurt, but we also help you proactively maintain good overall health through preventive care and functional medicine. Every visit with us will be thorough, relaxed, and as long as you need to address your health concerns. The longer you're our patient, the more we learn about your health and lifestyle, and the better we can help you maintain that health.
The terms are often mistakenly used interchangeably, but they are not the same. Both DPC and concierge practices charge a periodic or monthly fee, however, under the concierge model, this fee only gets you access; that is, it doesn't actually cover any of your care. Instead a concierge practice still bills insurance for your visits and provides you with the billing form that you will need to submit to be reimbursed directly back to you. Under DPC, your visits and other care are included in your fee and there is no middle man to collect money.
Here’s a few articles that profile the Direct Primary Care approach to medicine:
See our prices on our pricing page. We charge a flat monthly or yearly fee, and in exchange you a physician who works for you and not an insurance company. Our direct primary care patients also receive some discounts on our other wellness services, and a whole lot more.
Your monthly fee provides exceptional primary care without copays or surprise bills. It includes annual exams, school and sports physicals, follow-up visits, chronic disease management, and same- or next-day visits for common illnesses and injuries — all with short wait times and personalized attention.
You’ll have direct access to your doctor through phone, text, video, or email whenever you need guidance.
Some additional services and procedures are available to members at discounted rates.
We treat a full range of health concerns — from everyday problems like colds, flu, strep throat, rashes, and minor injuries to more complex, long-term conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, thyroid disorders, and hormone imbalance.
If you require hospitalization, surgery, or emergency care, your medical insurance will continue to cover those expenses. Should you need to see a specialist, we will help guide and refer you to the most appropriate provider who accepts your insurance.
Yes. We are happy to accept the older children ages 14 and older. Please refer to our pricing page for details. We do have a family discount rate.
Physician access is one of the most significant benefits of the direct primary care model. Because illness and injury do not respect regular office hours, you may call Physician Exchange, text, or email your physician whenever you need. Physician Exchange number is 808-524-2575, and they will page us to contact you.
Yes — that’s the beauty of Direct Primary Care. You’ll have direct access to your doctor for advice, diagnosis, and treatment, wherever you are. We can often manage illnesses remotely and send medications to your nearest pharmacy.
We maintain high standards of patient privacy. We will never provide your health information to any third party unless you specifically ask that we do so.
Charges will be added and applied to your preferred method of payment. Payment will be schedule either monthly or quarterly, semi-annual or annually, it's your choice.
We value an open, honest, and respectful relationship with every patient. If at any time you share a concern that we’re unable to resolve together, you may terminate your membership at any time — no hard feelings. We do not require members to sign any contracts that commit them to a certain period of membership. Memberships do not have an end date.
A minimum of the first month of membership and a registration fee are paid up front and are nonrefundable. If you decide to cancel and have a balance of prepaid membership fees remaining, a prorated refund will be given to you based upon the date of cancellation. We ask for 30 days notice prior to cancellation.
We would love the opportunity to take care of you and your family for many years to come, but if you change your mind, you are welcome to cancel at any time. Please note, we do charge a reenrollment fee of $150 if you should choose to return to our practice after a cancellation of membership.
As of January 2026, DPC is qualified as a medical expense (and not insurance) and is HSA eligible. See here for more information. This is great news! There are some limitations specifically on eligible amount. Patients can allocate $150/person and $300/family. Patients are advised to keep records and discuss details with their accountants. We will ask to use another form of payment in our system if your cost is above the eligible amount and then reimburse yourself from your HSA funds as you see fit.
Yes, we welcome all patients regardless of insurance status, with the exception of Medicaid.
Because our practice operates entirely outside of the insurance system, none of our services are eligible for insurance reimbursement.
We still strongly recommend that all patients maintain health insurance coverage to protect against major medical expenses such as hospitalizations, surgeries, or emergency care.
We understand that circumstances change. If you’d like to rejoin within 12 months of your original membership, we’ll simply adjust your fees to reflect the time you were away.
After 12 months, returning patients are considered new members and a $150 re-enrollment fee applies. Availability is limited, so if our practice is full, we’ll be happy to place you on our waitlist until a spot opens.
